Cheeky Boy

Chico continues to steal the heart of his foster family! There's been a new self-confidence in Chico; he no longer needs brother Bowser to show him the ropes! Chico is housetrained and sheds almost nothing, two facts worth repeating. :)

He is energetic, friendly and snuggly. This picture as taken just a few minutes after I met Chico and he was such a sweetie pie I wanted to take him home with me.

A Dog's Best Friend

Here is the cute story of how Chico ended up in his foster home. The housedog Bowser (seen in the background below) got boarded at Tail Waggin daycare for a week where Chico was being temporarily fostered.

The two pups became fast friends and so when Bowser got picked up, he came back with a foster bro! They are great pals and even though Bowser will miss his buddy, Chico will be a great canine companion to another family with a dog.

Introducing Chico!

Meet the sweetie pie Chico! This friendly boy is a tiny shy, but warms up quickly and is a grade A snuggler. He is 4 years old, and therefore, also housebroken!

He is listed as a Schnauzer/Poodle mix (#schnoodle). I think he's a very cute, somewhat scruffy guy: mostly blond on his face, his body is blond with darker roots. It's an unusual, beautiful contrast. His coat is very soft and doesn't shed much.

First Day of School

Chico has his first day of doggy daycare today. Good luck and have fun making pals, Cheeks!

Biker Boy

Jack Russells need plenty of exercise to be healthy and keep their minds stimulated (most dogs are happier and better behaved with exercise, of course), so Chico and I have been doing some biking. He's gotten really good at running beside me. It's interesting that he barks at cyclists, but has no issues running besides my bike. This form of exercise was actually a suggestion from a random biker in my neighborhood that stopped to ask about Chico because he was barking at her and she had a Jack R. too. Thanks for the idea!
An important thing to note is that he isn't joining me for my bike ride, but rather I am biking him for a walk. That is, the whole bike ride (route, pace, etc.) is to get him exercise. We typically do a 1.25 mile loop, but he went on a 3-mile run with Mary so I think he could do more.

New Friend for Chico

My dad's in town visiting so he and Chico have become pals. Here they are in a post-walk lap cuddle. Once you're in the house, you're in Chico's pack! Instant friends.
Chico sits patiently in the ongoing nightlong game of fetch he and my dad have going.

How much is that doggy in the window? Chico is being briefly force marketed at Trader Joe's while I go buy some fruit.

Does anyone need a +1 for a wedding coming up?
Here's Chico with his prized possession.

Sunny Boy

Chico and I are having a nice time on this summer day.
Great day to be playing fetch outside!
No coffee for this cutie pie.

Wake Up to This Face

Little Chico the snugglebug is always down for some cuddles.
It's his second favorite activity after playing fetch outside.
Anything else you want to know about this guy? Leave a comment.
We're heading to the dog park soon!

Two Sides, One Day

Here's a peek at the sleepy side and the happy & energetic side of Chico.

Cheeky Boy

Una tarde de diversión con Chico.

Don't forget that on Saturday you can come meet Chico (and a couple other pups) at the Fluffy Rescue Meet and Greet. You can see him do this little trick for treat.
You'll also be able to pick him for a cuddle - he is friendly and loves to be pet.
If you hold him in your lap, you'll see this sweet face. His little tail starts wagging and then he skips over for a snuggle.
After the meet and greet, we'll drive home and Chico can reflect on all the nice people he met.

Here are some quick reminders about Chico:

  • Housetrained? Yes - no accidents!
  • Trust worthy? Yes - he doesn't chew things and can stay home uncrated.
  • Shedding? Appears to shed little to no hair. Great.
  • Body-handling issues? Nope.
  • Healthy? Yes.
  • Kids? TBD. Chico was great with a toddler over Memorial Day and doesn't mind getting pet by strangers, but it's pretty limited pool of experience.
  • Sleeping? At night, Chico tucks himself in. He knows when it's bedtime and quietly lays down and stays in his dog bed all night.
Chico gets along fine with dogs at the dog park, but would be okay as a solo canine, too. He prefers to play with balls more than other pups. A fenced yard for fetch would be a great scene for him. He gets worked up when bikes pass, so if you live on the bike path it might be tough.

Party Boy

Chico loves a good birthday celebration. Such a handsome guy.

Haircut Heaven

Me gusta tu corte de pelo

Chico got a great trim today from Deb at In the Dogz House in Madison. Deb always does such a nice job with the makeover - highly recommend if you're in the Madison area.
He looks terrific and his spots are POPPIN.
He looks more like a Jack Russell now. Although a stranger correctly identified him as a Jackadoodle the other night. Or maybe it was Jackapoo. Or PooJack. Whatever.

Fresh Face to The World

We're at a lakehouse in MN for Memorial Day weekend. Chico is fully house-trained and doesn't chew on things that aren't his, so he's an easy houseguest.
My sister wanted me to keep him scruffy, but after this haircut I prefer him cleanshaven. Chico had a lot to look at out the windows. Please enjoy his adorable new haircut.

Terrace Boy

Chico got to visit the dog park and the terrace - what a day for a dog! He's more friendly with other dogs off leash so the park was great. He spent most of his time playing fetch. He's fast!
Chico was interested in the ducks but not enough to jump in the lake. Chico's non shedding and snuggle status got him some kisses from Jane. He is great meeting new people.
Here's a romantic shot of Jeff and Chico enjoying the sunset.

A Real Gentleman(dog)

...es todo un caballero...

Chico stayed home alone all day yesterday with no accidents or issues. He had the sunroom to himself and was a good boy. Thanks for not peeing on anything or chewing my stuff up, Chico! What a polite little canine. XO
