Last night I picked up my new pal, Hux. So far he is a polite and sweet little dog. He's 3 years old and weighs about 18 pounds. They always open up after a couple of days, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of his personality.
(I'm content with calm and cuddly in the meantime, of course.)

With less than 24 hours in WI under his belt, I'm taking this Southern boy on walks in -8 degree weather...it's almost inhumane. We couldn't even make it around the block because Hux was shivering and my eyeballs were freezing up. Poor little Hux was doing a tripod walk back home, rotating which foot got a break from the cold.
Hux does a tripod to give his paw a chance to thaw.
Like all the dogs from Fluffy Dog Rescue, Hux is from Alabama. Most are listed as stray, but they may have had a family in the past but got lost or abandoned. There's no way to know for sure. Below is more background on Hux from the woman in AL who had him while he was waiting to come here - way more than I usually get on a new pup.

"Huxford arrived at my house Dec. 8 from the Chilton County Humane Society, but I have no idea how he got there. He’s a great little dog and I can’t imagine why his family did not come for him, if he was lost. He’s a very loving and well adjusted little guy. He gets along well with the other dogs and with the grand kids. He loves to play with toys and to run in the yard. He walks well on a leash and has good potty manners. (he has done some little boy marking, but then he’s not yet been neutered) Huxford has a good appetite, eats alongside the others with no food aggression issues. He loves attention but is not demanding. He especially likes the fuzzy, squeaky toys! Hux is a verbal guy, if he is unsure of something he will give a growl sound but there is no aggression at all, just him trying to talk to you. Huxie looks me right in the eyes when I talk to him. I think he wants to understand what I’m saying and will be a quick learner. He likes to be close and sleeps quietly until it’s time to get up in the morning. He does not chase the cats though he’s curious. He’ll be a great addition to and a loyal member of any family who’ll give him a little loving. Huxford has been with us less than a month, but we’ve grown very fond of him."
